Dr. Iqbal was listed Top Doctor of 2018 as seen in Buffalo Spree! Turn to page 8-9 and check it out!
Dr. Iqbal offers uterine fibroid embolization, which involves insertion of a small catheter into the wrist to block blood flow to fibroids. This is a nonsurgical, minimally invasive approach, allowing women to go home the same day, and back to work in about a week.
As seen in Good Housekeeping, Womens Day, & Redbook, this article explains how Dr. Iqbal uses the latest non surgical, minimally invasive techniques for women's health and vascular conditions.
Uterine fibroids are very common among women in their 30-40's, they used to have to be removed surgically, not anymore.
Buffalo Vascular Care is the only outpatient facility in WNY to perform uterine fibroid embolization. This minimally invasive procedure last about an hour, and the patient is able to go home the same day, with returning to work in about a week.
Buffalo Vascular Care was recently featured in WNY Physician magazine, which showcased our efforts in preventing amputations! Check out the article on page 5 by clicking here!
What Are Varicose Veins?
They are dilated, thickened, elongated and twisted blood vessels that don’t control blood flow as they should. They can be smaller, thread-like spider veins or large, grape-like clusters under the skin. These veins are a result of underlying vein valve problems.
At Our Facility:
About Our Treatment:
Sclerotherapy: A doctor injects the veins with a solution that causes the vein to close and the blood is then directed through healthier veins.
Microsclerotherapy: Similar to the above method, but uses different solutions and injection technique.
Endovenous Thermal Ablation: A thin tube (catheter) is inserted into the vein. Then, the doctor applies heat through the tube causing the vein to collapse. A scar results and the blood is then forced through nearby healthy veins.
For more complex cases involving more internal venous problems, we have an angiography suite onsite.

This week continues our #PAWeek festivities and we want to celebrate our very own Physician Assistant at Vascular Interventional Associates, Blanka Heary!
She is a graduate of the Physician Assistant Program at Daemen College and has been in the profession for 15 years – 8 of those years with VIA! (Aren’t we so lucky?!) She takes pride in being a PA and being a part of a profession that has had such an impact in healthcare. Her favorite part of the profession is simply working with patients and making a difference in their lives for the better. When it comes to working at VIA, Blanka just loves saving limbs, literally! She’s grateful that she has such a rewarding job and has the opportunity to work alongside people that share the same passion for what they do.
Blanka grew with VIA. As we were growing, she helped out by wearing various hats, as Dr. Iqbal put it. She would lend a helping hand wherever necessary, whether it was administration, billing and coding, or marketing. One of her biggest contributions to the practice however, would be the free VIA Symposium that showcases the medical advances in Western New York every year. This year will mark the 12th symposium and is set to take place in April 2018.
Dr. Iqbal says that Blanka is his “clinical face” to the practice. He considers her a partner and together they have been able to thrive in reaching their goal of preventing amputations. She truly embodies what VIA is all about: compassion, care, intelligence, and making a difference.
Blanka is the mother of three sons, where she excels in the “mommy taxi” industry. She admits that she doesn’t enjoy housework, but can find some relaxation in gardening and cooking with her kids.
Thanks for all you do, Blanka! #PAsDoThat

Vascular interventional radiology (VIR) procedures are advances in medicine that often replace open surgical procedures. VIR endovascular experts specialize in minimally invasive, targeted treatments performed using imaging guidance techniques to "see" inside the body.
These image guided techniques allow for treatment of a variety of medical disorders without surgery. Patients benefit from decreased risk, pain, and recovery time. Procedures that traditionally required a hospital visit can now be performed in the comfort of an outpatient clinic.
